Luna De Sangre Newsletter Issue #14 .𖥔 ݁ ˖

‘The Blood Moon’
Happy full moon & welcome to the 14th issue of the Luna De Sangre Newsletter… ⊹
September has arrived and we are now just mere weeks away from the Autumnal season, exactly two weeks away to be exact! The very last day of summer is September 22nd, and from now until then I have one final jewelry collection to share with you…
I titled this final jewelry collection of the season, The Sea Mist Collection. She’s my ode to summer, a collection inspired by my summer travels road tripping through New England. I’m incredibly excited to share this new jewelry collection with you but before we begin, let me first give meaning to the title of tonights newsletter, ‘The Blood Moon’.
A blood moon, also known as a total lunar eclipse, occurs when the Earth passes directly between the sun and the moon. During this occurence the sun casts a shadow across the moons surface, this causes the moon to appear to us as a deep maroon shade rather than its usual glowing white hue. I named this very jewelry company, ‘Luna De Sangre’ after this occurence, so tonight is a very special night for me indeed. Now, tonights blood moon will only be visible in certain parts of the world, but if you reside in a location where this occurence will be visible to you, I highly encourage you to take a moment to step outside and say hello to the blood moon.

The Sea Mist Collection 𓂃 ོ𓂃

The Sea Mist Collection is a collection of jewelry inspired by my time spent on the coast, pieces I created with labradorite, aquamarine, river shells, smoky quartz, and many other stones that reminded me of the many bodies of water I came across during my travels.
As of tonight, there are four available pieces from this collection, and six more to come! I will be trickling out the remaining pieces of the collection from now until the last day of summer, September 22nd. The four pieces that are currently available from this collection include the ‘River Naiad Crystal Choker & Earring Set’, and the, ‘Echo Lake Labradorite Necklace & Earring Set’…
The River Naiad Crystal Choker 𖥔 ݁
I designed the River Naiad Crystal Choker with natural labradorite crystals, victorian styled motifs, antique bronze fluted bead caps, and ornately draped chain.

Working with labradorite is always such a joy, I had the best time not only creating this piece, but also during the modeling process. We took many of the final product photos out in nature and I felt much like a river naiad myself.

The River Naiad Crystal Earrings 𖥔 ݁
A necklace this ornate needs a matching set of earrings to accompany it. I designed the River Naiad Crystal Earrings with natural labradorite crystals, antique bronze fluted bead caps, ornate victorian charms and shell embossed leverbacks.

The Echo Lake Labradorite Earrings 𖥔 ݁

I was inspired to design the Echo Lake Labradorite Earrings shortly after paying a visit to Echo Lake in Maine. Pictured above is a photo I captured during the misty overcast day i spent at the lake.
I hand selected an assortment of labradorite crystals to mimic the many shades of blue found in not only the lake, but also that moody grey skyline. I then chose to use antique bronze hardware to represent the deep tones found in the surrounding sand, lake rocks, and the hills in the distance.

Echo Lake was quite the experience and I created these earrings just so I could take a piece of that day home with me, and of course to share it with you all as well.

The Echo Lake Labradorite Necklace 𖥔 ݁
This necklace was of course, also inspired by my memorable visit to Echo Lake. I designed this piece with labradorite crystals, antique bronze fluted bead caps, ornate spear headpins, and two variations of chain. This necklace is somewhat different from my usual designs, this is the first time I’ve created a necklace with a centerpiece as elongated as this one, 7 inches to be exact, and it will most certainly not be the last.

I adore how dramatic the elongated chain looks rested on the chest, and the iridescence of the labradorite crystals in the sunlight ~ from now on I vow to use labradorite in more jewelry collections, I’ve completely fallen in love with the mysticism of this stone.

What’s to Come?

Sterling Silver Swan Charm
As previously mentioned, there are still six remaining pieces left of the Sea Mist Collection, and the two I am most excited to release are the swan themed waist adornments I’m currently in the midst of designing… I’m creating these waist adornments each with a sterling silver swan focal charm (pictured above), sterling silver hardware, preciosa crystals, iridescent pearls, and glass seed beads. The two swan waist adornments will be available on the very last day of summer (10/22), and together they will be my final “swan song” to close off the season.

Watercolor Update ᝰ

A. Gallo Naturale Watercolors ⊹
My partner recently surprised me with these gorgeous honey based watercolors by the company A. Gallo. They were intended to be a birthday gift but as some of you may know, I’m a virgo, and my birthday isn’t until the 15th, so you can imagine my surprise when he handed me these precious little paints in August!
The A. Gallo company is based in Assisi, Italy and their Naturale Watercolor Collection consists of unique pigments sourced from the Mediterranean basin to the forests of Sumatra.The pigments are rich and consistently amaze me with how well they perform.
As of late, when I’m not designing new jewelry collections, working on my college courses (my first day was August 26th!), or reading, I’ve been dedicating most of my nights to painting. Recently I’ve been really enjoying painting small houses.

This last painting is still in progress, I still have to finish painting the background as well as the borders but I am really quite proud of my little cottage in the middle :’-)

Before I Say Goodbye…
I’d love to leave you with a poem from an Emily Dickinson poetry collection I recently picked up. The poem is titled, ‘The Moon was but a Chin of Gold’.
The moon was but a chin of gold
A night or two ago,
And now she turns her perfect face
Upon the world below.
Her forehead is of amplest blond;
Her cheek like beryl stone;
Her eye unto the summer dew
The likest I have known.
Her lips of amber never part;
But what must be the smile
Upon her friend she could bestow
Were such her silver will!
And what a privilege to be
But the remotest star!
For certainly her way must pass
Beside your twinkling door.
Her bonnet is the firmament,
The universe her shoe,
The stars the trinkets at her belt,
Her dimities of blue.
