‘The Harvest Moon’

Happy full moon & welcome to the 15th issue of the Luna De Sangre Newsletter
 âŠč

October has just arrived, we are now officially in the autumnal season! With the changing weather comes a brand new jewelry collection, one filled with blood red garnet crystals and the blackest of onyx, paired with antique silver, bronze, and even gold hardware.

But, before we welcome in this new fall collection, I woud love to show you the final pieces that wrapped up my summer jewelry line titled, The Sea Mist Collection. Aferwards, I have many photos to share with you from my recent trip to Maine, and finally, a selection of poems from a poetry collection I have not been able to put down.

Grab some coffee or tea, say hello to the Harvest Moon, and let’s begin.

‘The Swallows’ Sapphire Necklace 𓂃 àœŒđ“‚ƒ

‘The Swallows’ Sapphire Necklace is the daintiest swallow necklace you ever did see
đ“…Ș𓂃

This necklace features an ornate connector charm surrounded by blue aura glass beads. Hanging from the connector is a single light blue sapphire cabochon set in an ornate silver base charm. All of these elements are held together by two swallows in flight.

The ornate connector charm in the middle is designed to sit right on the clavicle of the neck, when worn this necklace is nothing short of a treasure.

The ‘Sea Glass’ Sapphire Earrings đ–„” ʁ

I designed the ‘Sea Glass’ Sapphire Earrings using the same sapphire cabochons and ornate base charms used for ‘The Swallows’ Sapphire Necklace. They too are rather dainty, measuring only two centimeters. This earring set can be worn along with ‘The Swallows’ Sapphire Necklace as a matching set, or worn alone to add a small pop of color to any outfit.

The ‘Swan Song’ Waist Adornments đ–„” ʁ

Sterling Silver Swan Charm

You may remember from my last newsletter that I was in the process of designing (two) swan themed waist adornments using the sterling silver swan charm pictured above. Well, both waist adornments have been finalized and I couldn’t be more proud! ♡

As for the ‘Swan Song’ Waist Adornment (Labradorite), this piece features an assortment of natural labradorite crystals, blue montana & clear preciosa crystals, glass seed beads, and a single sterling silver swan and star charm.

Both waist adornments will be made to fit your exact size, and compose solely of sterling silver hardware so you can wear your adornment daily.

Bar Harbor, Maine đ–„” ʁ

To celebrate my 26th birthday, my friends and I took a trip up to Maine during the month of September! It was a perfect end to a long summer season.

Sand Beach đ–„” Bar Harbor, Maine

Together, we visited Acadia National Park, Sand Beach, Echo Lake & the Asticou Azalea Garden.

Asticou Azalea Garden đ–„” Mount Desert, Maine

I also had a chance to visit this quaint little bookstore named, ‘Hidden Barn Books’, where I stumbled upon a new poetry collection I simply cannot put down

When You See My Mother, Ask Her to Dance đ–„” ʁ

‘When You See My Mother, Ask Her to Dance’, is a collection of poems written by the musician and social activist, Joan Baez. This poetry collection contains 60+ never before published poems Ms. Baez wrote in a private journal over a span of decades.

Below, on the night of the Harvest Moon, I want nothing more than to share with you the three poems from this collection that greatly moved me, and continue to inspire me daily. May they do the same for you.

Flying Naked Over the Blue Lake

And when I fly over the blue lake I haven’t a stitch covering my body and I look down at the blue so far away, “Ahoy there!” I can feel the wind like feathers all over me on my stomach and my chest and on my legs and between my legs like a bird might feel in flight. I am warmth and bones and nerves and blood and muscle wrapped up in bare skin stretched tight, just skin between me and the wind like feathers touching from the outside that make me want more pleasure and more as I fly with my arms stretched out to the sides and my legs in a floating V, lookind down over the endless blue lake.

- Joan Baez

A Sudden Deer

A sudden deer,

a statue in the long grass,

shimmers in the biblical sunset

unexpectedly

interrupting

the careful patterns of

my elsewhere life.

- Joan Baez

Birdsong

I lay out on the porch in the dark

in my warm and rumpled sheets

awakened by the moon-sliver

casting glimmers on the hibiscus.

It is time for the most beautiful music to begin.

Heart awaiting, every nerve listening.

But by dawn’s light, we heard it not

and my breath grew silent, but we heard it not.

I was perched in a nightdress

at the edge of the veranda in anticipation.

But we heard it not. Yes, today was

the day the birdsong suddenly stops.

Last year it was on the fifteenth of June,

so I’d hoped I had more time.

But when I could distinctly make out

tree against tree on the mountain across the canyon,

I knew it was true: there was no flood, no chorus.

Only cheeps, and peeps, chirps, squawks, and eeps.

But the ringing of hundreds of silver throats would not come again until spring — if they ever come at all.

I told myself, “It is nature
 the birds have business
or are tired.” I held my breath.

I can barely stand the inevitable turning of the seasons and the remnants and shadows

of the hosannas that filled the canyon

only yesterday.

- Joan Baez

Before I Say Goodbye

I’d love to leave you with two photos captured during the very last days of summer. The turning of the leaves in the second photograph, and the overall color palette of the two images is just the perfect split between summer and autumn

If you’ve arrived to the very end of this newsletter, I want to sincerely thank you for taking time out of your day to connect with me. I’ve had, and continue to have, the most fun sharing the small quiet parts of my life with you.

I hope you enjoyed your time here. Until the next full moon.
